Got me some new grills - not the dental kind, but some mesh grills to protect the front radiators, which I ordered from Tess Tickle and Motordrive (and were designed by fellow Caymanite, ET19).
Unfortunately, the front radiators on a Cayman are pretty exposed to debris, especially on a daily driver and track car, and mine were starting to show a fair amount of damage. I thought the grills were a good idea, but I had been procrastinating with my installation, intimidated by the thought...

It's Saturday evening at Hallett, and I'm having a beer with Barry, who is in the garage next to the one that I'm using for the weekend. Barry is a rather interesting fellow - an Aussie who has been living in the U.S. for about 17 years, and has been involved in racing for probably over 30 years. In the U.S. he has raced karts, SCCA and NASA, and races an old RX7 at Hallett.
Anyway, after I described watching one of the HST (High Speed Touring) drivers spin off the wet track right...

Winter in Kansas can be a pretty dreary time for a driving enthusiast - no DEs, no AX, no winding mountain roads to travel - and while I still enjoy my CS as a daily driver, I have missed not being able to tinker with it as well.
Fortunately, we finally had a nice warm spell which coincided with a day off, so I decided it was time to install the FABSpeed catback exhaust that has been sitting in my basement. I did it myself in the garage using jackstands (much easier to remove the...

(upgraded videos)
Those of you who participate in AX know that it can be an intense experience for about 40-50 seconds per run. So imagine going around a 40-50 second course 4 times in a row without stopping . . . that's Endurocross.
Our local SCCA club holds an Endurocross every fall for fun (doesn't count in the annual point standings) and it is usually my favorite event. This year the course was laid out like a big figure-8 with a cross-over in the center, a couple of chicanes and a slalom....

I decided to spend a little quality time with my Cayman this week by hand-washing it. However, when I got done I noticed how tarnished and weathered the exhaust tips looked (after 2 1/2 years of neglect) compared to the rest of the car . . . kind of like taking a bath and not cleaning your . . . well, you know.
So, today I took some Brasso, and dragged out my Dremel tool with some polishing wheels and compound, and went to work on it. After about an hour, I got it looking...
