They must have interviewed people from another planet, because of the people I know there appears to be a negative correlation between their personalities, their color choices, and that study.

There was only 1 criterion for me when I was choosing a car color: what color will be least noticable to the Highway Patrol. I selected Meteor Grey, as it is the closest color to asphalt, and thereby serves to make the car less noticeable.

You could have had them "paint to sample"...ASPHALT.

I do find myself driving more slowly during the day in my red car. Must be a lack of confidence?

Perhaps, but according to the illustrious article referred to by Santa Fe people with bright yellow cars have a confidence level 8.3% below average. It is also interesting to note that individuals with silver cars have a 1.3% higher than average level of confidence. In fact, after reading the article I am feeling more confident already . Maybe one day I'll be confident enough to own an emerald green car

I'm not sure that I should write something here. I may not say it correctly or someone may challenge it. Oh, what the he!!. I'm so happy now who cares? Man, today is such a sad day, it's raining. Can you tell what color my car is? The funny thing about that survey is that I find myself to be the complete opposite of what it states and I own a RED car.

Funny, but you need to try harder I think you only got to 8% not 8.8%

I always thought that the good looking women that got their boyfriends to buy them cars (regardless of car color) were the smartest people!

Oh, FUN TOPIC! So all these black "luxury" imports (e.g. Lexus, Infiniti, BMW, Merc) running around Houston really ARE driven by people with below average confidence with consisently rotten moods? They do seem the most obnoxious drivers.

Survey made me feel quite confident in decisions to purchase a Cobalt Blue 911 Turbo last year, and ordering a Malachite Green 2009 Cayman S.

When I was trying to decide what color CS to get, my first thought was just about any color would look good on a Porsche. I considered a low-profile color at first, such as the asphalt-gray mentioned above. Upon further reflection, I decided red would be a sporty, timeless, classic color that would never go out of vogue. True, I've seen police give me a hard look through the peep sight of a laser a few times, but that's all they got: a look.

I chose silver because I like it and it reminds me of classic 550s etc. Plus silver is always faster. However, I am bothered that with a low silvery sleek thing sometimes people don't see me and change lanes into me or worse. Call this the James Dean effect. Granted most are on their cell phones which has disabled them to turn their heads, but sometimes I think it would be better to have the loudest color to be better seen for safety.

This author of this article smokes too much weed and has too much time on his hands with nothing to write about. Drivers of black cars have no mood swings but very low confidence??.

I bought the best looking CS at the best price I could find. My final choices were silver, yellow and black. Didn't buy the yellow because the sport seats didnt fit me as good as the standard ones on the black one. The silver CS hand Conti tires- dealbreaker.

Guess I shoulda read this first.

My exact feeling.....so I went with Guards Red, again.......my first was a 1993 Porsche 911 RS America that I had for 14 years and not once ticketed.

Obviously a well run and exhaustive study. Cannot find any reason to doubt it. No wonder I searched high and low for my Lapis Blue CS and paid a $3,000 plus charge for such a color statement.

It was destiny and nothing to do with the huge discount on offer.

Lapis blue is awesome. If there were a color dial on the Cayman I'd dial that one in at least once a week.

Anyway I just reviewed the auto-linked thread "Car Color = Personality ?" and clearly some or all of these studies are rubbish. One of them found that black is the color of "self-confident sophisticates" but the one that headed this thread ranks black as least confident.

Then there's the surveys about traffic ticket rates by color. In one I recall, silver got the least tickets and grey the most, both with statistical significance. Huh?

I am a doctoral level psychologist and I'd be the first to tell you that a vast majority of what you read in the field is "hogwash". Speculation and poorly designed studies to name a few. Some of it is not much better than astrology. Don't worry about what color you prefer might suggest about you to someone else. We are very complex organisms, and feelings, thoughts, preferences change on a daily basis. There are those who would like for you to think they can tell much about you based on your color preference or odor preference or whatever, but don't let them fool you.
