"...Displaying none of his son's sure touch in handling a car, Anthony Hamilton, the father of the Formula One driver Lewis, careered into a children's playground yesterday 200 metres from his home..."
I think this writer needs a new career.
Psssst. I think the word you were looking for was "careened".

He wrecked a Carrera GT. He should be deported to Switzerland immediately.

or, perhaps you need to get a better English dictionary. The Times writer's word useage (as a verb) is correct. Look it up.

He stuffed a Carrera GT? He should have his license taken away.

both father and son have had public appearances and news with Porsche. I wonder how McLaren and Mercedes Benz feels .... In fact, there is more news of Lewis and Tony in Porsches than there is with Mercs.

I think the Dad just wanted to destroy the Carrera GT after finding out about the new Cayman facelift, which I am sure he wants as a replacement.

Well you learn something every day- even if you were an English major for a year:
intr.v. ca·reered, ca·reer·ing, ca·reers
To move or run at full speed; rush. See Usage Note at careen.
[French carrière, from Old French, racecourse, from Old Provençal carriera, street, from Medieval Latin (via) carrāria, (road) for carts, feminine of carrārius, from Latin carrus, a Gallic type of wagon; see kers- in Indo-European roots.]
So the Carrera was named after the Mexican Carrera Panamerica road race, and Lewis' dad "careered" his Carrera into a playground. It comes full circle.

Porsche should do like Ferrari did with the Enzo, not everyone should be able to get his hands on one!!

The difference is that demand far exceeded supply w/ the Enzo, whereas I understand some CGT's were sitting in dealer showrooms for a while.
It's a moot point anyway, since the CGT is out of production.

Heh like father like son... Hamilton, ignoring a red light, drove his car into a stationary car in pit lane after a strong start in Montreal.

I liked Kimi's reaction out of the car when he gave Lewis a tap and pointed at the pit light! Even with helmets on you could see the expressions on their faces. No wonder they call Kimi the 'Iceman'. A simple reminder to Lewis of what happened - nothing more, nothing less! Seven lead changes!
